Position Summary Under general supervision, the Non-CDL Straight Truck Driver delivers aluminum extrusion and related materials to area customers using a 26-foot straight truck. This role is responsible for safe vehicle operation, accurate delivery, cargo securement, and adherence to all DOT, company, and safety regulations. The driver works closely with warehouse personnel, dispatch, and customers to ensure timely and professional service.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title; however, employees may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each employee with this job title.
Operate a 26’ Straight Truck (Non-CDL) safely and professionally
Operate the vehicle in compliance with all local, state, federal and company driving regulations and safety standards
Maintain proper vehicle control when navigating narrow areas, customer sites, or challenging road conditions
Safely load and unload aluminum extrusions and related materials using proper handling methods
Check that loads are properly secured with straps, edge protectors, or other required securement devices
Review shipping paperwork for accuracy and any special handling requirements
Wear appropriate safety equipment (PPE) when handling materials
Maintain Electronic Logging Device (ELD) logbook in accordance with DOT regulations
Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
Maintain truck cleanliness, safety, and general operational conditions
Keep securement devices (straps, tarps, etc.) clean and properly stored
Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse personnel, and supervisors
Notify management of delivery issues, damaged material, or customer concerns
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Education
High School diploma or equivalent required
Experience/Skills/Abilities Required
Preferably 3 years of experience driving a 53ft tractor trailer
Clean MVR with no more than one major violation within the past 5 years
Have or be able to get a DOT Medical Card
Lift and carry heavy material up to 75 lbs.; climb on and off a flat bed
Ability to read, write and communicate in English effectively
Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Ability to read tape measure
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to bend over, reach upwards or outwards, twist, turn around and climb up and down.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Most of your time will be spent driving and loading/unloading goods and materials
Requires significant, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
The job typically requires 50% driving, 30% walking, and 20% standing
May be required to work in a variety of weather conditions
